Today we are looking at how to start the creative process. Learn how to immerse yourself in creative thinking. By the end of this blog post, you will understand that everyone is creative, it’s just a matter of activating the thought process. It’s how you express your creativity, that makes you uniquely you. Learn which habits are essential to allow creativity to flow.
I believe that we all have the ability to be creative. In my opinion, creativity isn’t something we are born with. Creativity is a thinking process that anyone can learn. Whether we pursue that thinking process, is what makes us appear more or less creative – but anyone can learn the methods of creative thinking. So can YOU!
If you haven’t viewed it, now is a great time to read about why it is important to be creative. Here’s how to develop the habits you need:
How to be creative
The very essence of this process is the ability to clear your mind. With a phone, a computer, and other fancy technologies, it is very easy to get distracted. In these modern days, it is about developing our ability to break those habits: the habits of occupying ourselves in an instant.
Every day, we experience many different challenges that shift our focus. This includes both stress, access to entertainment, and all our daily must-dos. To be creative, we have to be able to release ourselves from those things. The reason is very straightforward: Being creative means that your brain is actively looking for things to occupy itself. The brain needs to think. So, give your brain something to do.
It is all about the moments when we give ourselves the time looking for ways to occupy us with. Your head gets the opportunity to look around and notice things that you previously haven’t noticed. It is a matter of wondering about and questioning random topics, simple topics, and new topics. Even very obvious things can be approached from another perspective to challenge our traditional ways of looking at things.
Creating the habits you need
It really does take time to immerse yourself in to creativity. It is a matter of starting habits that enable your imagination. As already stating above, letting yourself be unoccupied is a great start. Take a look around in your home. What things do you have in your accommodation that you can do anything with?
What I mean to ask is, what do you have that you can create something with? Pencil and paper? Cardboard? A chair you meant to discard because you are looking for another design? As soon as you look at something, start wondering:
1) What can I make with that?
2) What can I do differently?
3) How can I make the most of what I have?
4) How can I give a new purpose to something I own?
Making it a habit to ask yourself these questions, is a great way to apply your imagination on a daily basis. It all starts with the simplest of things. Take something simple and make it abstract; make it something different, something else.
